Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson

looks like the guy that hit him went to check the player that was blocking for AJ skating ahead of him, and the checking player thought he was powerful enough to go right through both of them, the guarding player had way too much momentum and maybe weighed more than he looked and slowed the checking player just enough to stop his upper half, but his legs were already following through sending him spinning.

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson

Are you also blind? Nothing about that looked intentional. The guy who did the cutting was going to hit another dude with some speed and lost balance causing the skate to come up where it did.
Even though it looked like he hit the other guy he didn't. You can see that player skate away without issue. Adam Johnson had the puck and Matt Petgrave has a history of playing dirty. There's even a clip going around of him kicking another player. One of the first things they teach you in hockey is to keep your skates on the ice. Petgrave's leg had no reason to be that high. He obviously had no intention of killing him but he had intention to get the puck away from Johnson.

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson

No one knows at this moment, it’s been adjourned till January he’s being investigated after eye witnesses seen and recorded him laughing, guys a straight up killer

I'm hockey illiterate, so this is a genuine question, but what was the guy that collided with him trying to do? It almost looks like an intentional kick. I don't think he was trying to injure him, but wtf was he going for there?

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson

And, crazy enough, this isnt the first time this has ever happened.
A high school kid died, last year, same injury. I think it was somewhere in Conn or RI??

Also, in the late 80s i remember a Pro guy in the NHL having his throat cut... luckily he lived tho.

Watching this has always given me nightmares. Thank God someone there had enough medical training to find the artery and pinch it shut to stop the bleeding.

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson

just curious, is it theoretically possible to save someone's life after something like this happens? or is it basically lights out after 30 seconds or saw, if it hit the jugular?

It depends on who is around to help. Clint Malarchuk would almost certainly had died had someone around him not had the medical knowledge to reach into his neck and pinch the artery closed to stop the bleeding.

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson

I’ve been playing hockey for 25 years. At a relatively high level for a good portion of it (I’m old now, so not any longer), there is a .000000001% chance that he wasn’t trying to kick him. The kicker had been ejected from 2 of the previous 4 games. Anyone who has played knows this was no accident. Was he trying to kill him? Probably not. But he was definitely trying to kick him. This scumbag should face charges.

Anyone who has ever played knows that this is an absolutely intentional kick. Dude should do the honorable thing and kill himself (on film so we can watch it).

Re: Ice Hockey Death of Adam Johnson

Looks intentional until to me until I saw spamwich's slow-motion video. Guess it really was a case of bad luck
