Re: Fiery Crash Between Motorcycle and Honda in Louisiana - Two Dead
The drivers side window blew out in fragments instantly, I would guess from shrapnel like you said. Bike and rider seemed mostly intact. It would be interesting to know the causes of death of the woman, head injury, thermal injury and if she was conscious. And the bike speed.

Re: Fiery Crash Between Motorcycle and Honda in Louisiana - Two Dead
It looks to me like she saw the motorcycle approaching, stepped on the brakes to make a quick mental calculation, decided that she had time to cut across in front of it, but then made a fatal mistake by severely misjudging its oncoming speed. Had the bike not been approaching at what looks to be at least 100mph, she probably would have had plenty of time to make that turn. |

LSU's stadium is to the immediate right of the camera. The posted speed limit for the crossroad at that location is only 25 mph. The fact that it was a divided highway with multiple dedicated turning lanes, islands, and striped off areas was probably a factor as well. |

Motorcycle cleary had the green light and right of way. She had unprotected green for turning. Probably on her phone texting and driving. Boom.

Re: Fiery Crash Between Motorcycle and Honda in Louisiana - Two Dead
I dont think all motorcyclists speed. Ive had the same Harley for 25 years. I'm not sure which one of us is slower at this point. I'm always cautious near intersections and my finger is always near the horn and high beam light button/switch if I think I need someone's attention. I've got a grumble of pugs at home, cant take chances.
