Re: Deputy Dinkheller Gunned Down by M1 Carbine rifle
I wonder how you'd sound getting murdered. The problem here is the cop was not as good as the guy in the truck. I heard over 20 shots and not 1 fatal/crippling shot delivered by the cop. |

Re: Deputy Dinkheller Gunned Down by M1 Carbine rifle
I'm usually the guy one here that bitches about the cops being too quick to shoot. In this case, the cop could and should have open fired as soon as the gun was pulled. I have to give credit to this officer for trying not to use deadly force as a first option. I'm sure he was one of the good cops, and it's a damn shame that one of the good ones died.

Re: Deputy Dinkheller Gunned Down by M1 Carbine rifle
4 years might still be a "rookie" as far as confrontational experience needed against anyone who is firing on you, regardless of being a vet. No, he may not have been on his first day but this could have been the first time he encountered being shot at in such a manner. I'd almost have to believe that scenario because as sad as I am for the cop and his family and respect his position, he did everything wrong from the moment the gun came out. He appears to have (aside from the obvious giving far too many commands) intentionally lost sight of the gunner. I'm not exactly weapons trained but I would think the last thing you ever do is lose a line of sight of the guy shooting at you who obviously isn't going to stop. You can't outcrawl the guy - where you going to go?

Re: Deputy Dinkheller Gunned Down by M1 Carbine rifle
For sure. Hell he could have used pepper spray way early in the confrontation. When the guy started acting stupid then goes back to his car BAM with the pepper spray. Some idiot said they would shoot him in the leg. That always comes from some idealistic moron who's probably never shot a handgun in their life.. They train to hit center mass. It's the best target because vital organs are there, and it's the largest target. Firing under that kind of duress isn't like shooting through a course. If anyone thinks they're a hotshot and want to risk their lives shooting at someones legs while they shoot at you. Or screaming and running at you with a weapon. Then you are fooling yourselves. Don't be a shmuck. Unfortunatly like someone else said earlier in the thread. This cop did many things wrong. He let the perp cross several lines in which the officer could have and should have taken a specific action. He really wanted to give this guy a chance too. And it got him killed. |
