Bad shooting. After initially running at the one Officer, the guy changed directions and started to run away from the Officers. At that point the guy was clearly running away and was no longer an immediate threat when Sgt. Holman capped him 3 times in the back. Holman is going to have a hard time defending against the charges. Holman basically got caught up in the adrenaline head rush and tunnel vision that one gets in a situation like this where Holman is initially trying to protect his fellow officer but got carried away in the moment.

Actually I don't care wether or not the person is toothless, has one arm and is blind in one eye. That person is still deadly with a knife in hand. As a former police officer, I had a 5'1, 120 lb 15 yr old female slice and dice me and my partner with a box cutter. I had to get over 200 stitches. She was out of control on drugs and her mother had called the police. I was trying to calm her down to try and get her help when she unexpectedly attacked. No, I did not shoot her and we did not have our weapons drawn at the time. She ended up running out the door and getting away. I could have easily shot her in the back but I did not because she was no longer a threat to me. I was more concerned about bleeding to death at that point. It is easy to think that a person like this guy is no big deal and not a threat until you actually experience something like this. Never ever underestimate a person with a knife. It could cost you your life. Having said that, Sgt. Holman in my opinion escalated the situation by immediately injecting himself and giving this guy orders when it appeared the other two officers had the situation under control. This obviously set the mentally ill guy off. Holman should have stayed back and observed and assisted if needed, but no he had to jump in aggressively thus setting off the deadly chain of events.

Because, once an attacker runs away from a cop/or anyone, and, as such, is not a threat anymore (since his back is completely turned away from the police and therefore is not imminently endangering anybody else or the public)—indeed, even if he did attack previously, and yes, even with a deadly weapon, and even if they did injure or killed a cop just before—any such shots in the back of a subject running away, constitute attempted murder or murder—if they die, as is the case here.

Actually, the cop should have been charged with murder, based on the one shot that entered the homeless man's back.

The one shot that missed him would have been attempted murder, the one that grazed his leg attempted murder/manslaughter, and the one in the middle of his back, to reiterate—MURDER.

Fuck such filthy pigs—they are not police officers, and they should never be on the force.

The pig here, in cold-blood, simply exacted *revenge*—because the homeless man dared to attack his buddies with a knife—and that's the real reason he shot at the fleeing man, even though he clearly was not a threat to anyone anymore.

At that point, they should have chased after him and resorted to other, non-lethal techniques to subdue the guy.

For God's sake, what the fuck happened to pepper-spraying, for a change?

Rubber bullets, anyone?

Cudgels, batons, truncheons?

Then old man ran away from the cops. And then he was not a threat anymore. But regardless he was shot from the back and killed. You stupid fuck.
