Re: Cement Mixer Truck Backing Up Runs Over and kills 13 year-old girl
Well in the pics you can see her IPhone laying on the ground near her body. So maybe she was texting. Even if that's the case, I'd assume that the truck has a backup 'beep' that ALL large trucks have been backing up. Plus you'd think she'd hear the engine even if it wasn't beeping. People are oblivious these days. I really doubt it was suicide though.

So it's the construction site's fault now because some dipshit teenager was too busy texting to notice an enormous cement mixer backing up slowly towards her over a distance of several yards? Screw personal accountability, right? Always best to throw shit at the corporation instead. However many regulations and safeguards you put into place, dipshit human error is always going to overcome them in one form or another. |

rolling cement trucks aside, its probably not a bad idea for teenaged girls to be a bit more aware of their surroundings, with rapists, kidnappers, perverts, serial killers on the prowl. Darwin Award for sure in this case.

Re: Cement Mixer Truck Backing Up Runs Over and kills 13 year-old girl
You cannot possible ascertain from this video that she was visible in his mirrors. In fact, given how perfectly straight he is backing up, he is very likely watching his mirror closely as he reverses VERY slowly. She was probably in his mirror's blind spot due to the angle. But what you CAN ascertain, with perfect crystal clarity....is that SHE should have seen him. A driver failing to see a small girl who may be outside his mirror's field is a perfectly plausible scenario. A stupid kid failing to see THE HUGE, BRIGHT-BLUE cement mixer rumbling and rattling while approaching her for a dozen yards at a snail's pace is something else entirely. He had at least one good reason to have not seen her. She had absolutely zero reasons to have failed to see him. Zero. Less than one. Zero. No excuse. No explanation. No rationale. Oh wait. Abject stupidity. I guess that's reason enough. |
