You cannot possible ascertain from this video that she was visible in his mirrors. In fact, given how perfectly straight he is backing up, he is very likely watching his mirror closely as he reverses VERY slowly. She was probably in his mirror's blind spot due to the angle.

But what you CAN ascertain, with perfect crystal clarity....is that SHE should have seen him. A driver failing to see a small girl who may be outside his mirror's field is a perfectly plausible scenario. A stupid kid failing to see THE HUGE, BRIGHT-BLUE cement mixer rumbling and rattling while approaching her for a dozen yards at a snail's pace is something else entirely.

He had at least one good reason to have not seen her. She had absolutely zero reasons to have failed to see him. Zero.

Less than one.

It's a 13 year old kid. They do stupid things. She looks to be facing the other way and was playing with something, probably had headphones on. Smart? No. But she's a kid

I used to drive bucket/construction trucks which had no rear view mirror. During training my supervisor demonstrated how far the distance was before you could see a person standing directly behind you. The distance was between 150-200 feet in a bucket truck, which took me by surprise. Anytime I had to perform a back-up I always got out, checked for anyone/anything behind me, and put cones out.

Unfortunately I doubt the driver had any proper safety training

By brother also drives trucks on a construction site, and they are required to have a spotter to prevent this type of thing happening.
