Re: Brazil - at Least 10 Dead in Vehicle Pile Up
Might have been several cars plowing into each other in the smoke/fog and then the truck hit a bunch of them. It looks like the police car was on the scene first with emergency lights blinking and it got hit from behind. Maybe the smoke was really thick, but you would think the truck would see emergency lights. Thick smoke / fog / dust is bad news. In USA drivers education years ago (1980's), they told us not to stop or brake but continue with extreme caution. I saw an accident near Pima, Ohio around 1989 or 90 where a truck plowed into cars stopped for smoke or fog and the whole mess blew up and burned out. The truck was carrying molasses or something sticky and the burnt crap was on the road for months. 5 or 10 people died, I can't remember. I drove thru a complete brown out caused by dust from a harvester on I-65 in Indiana years ago. Couldn't see a damn thing for 200 yards, luckily everyone kept moving. I wanted to take the next exit and speak harshly to the farmer, he could see his dust was blinding the interstate from the wind direction, but I had a business meeting. |

Re: Brazil - at Least 10 Dead in Vehicle Pile Up
Do I have to be on the other side of the equator to see these videos right side up? The ones along side of the guard rail were out of their cars changing a tire when they all got hit by the semi. You can see the tire iron, hubcap, and jack near the last body. I'm sure that is what contributed to the large amount of fatalities. |
