Re: Adolescent Jumps in Swimming Pool and then Realized He Can't Swim and Drowns
They noticed. The way he was bobbing up and down for a lengthy time, it would be easy to think that he was clowning around - until it was too late to correct the error.

Dude could have just sank to the bottom and walked to the steps with air to spare. How the fuck can someone see a pool full of kids swimming and still not know how to swim? Don't think we lost a cancer cure here

Re: Adolescent Jumps in Swimming Pool and then Realized He Can't Swim and Drowns
Here’s a lifesaving technique to teach your children who cannot swim. Blow out all the air in your body and sink to the bottom of the pool, when your feet touch the ground jump as hard as you can, taking a deep breath in when your head breaks the surface. Repeat this until you are in shallow water or can grab the side of the pool. I’ve taught this to kids 3 and up. It’s very easy to do. Sometimes it takes more than ten jumps but eventually you will make it to where you can touch. It’s energy efficient. You won’t tire out like you will active drowning. It’ll also help you learn to swim much faster because you’ll no longer be afraid of going in a bit too deep. I genuinely wish more adults would take the time to teach this to children during the summer. It’s so much faster than teaching them to swim. It’ll also save you if you get tired of swimming and can’t keep yourself above water anymore. Sink, jump, breathe, repeat. Please teach your kids this very simple lifesaving thing. *climbs down soapbox **immediately hit by car ***new DR post |

Drowning Silently. Contrary to Hollywood, when people, drown they don’t make a great fuss hollering and waving their arms, shouting ‘help me’ etc. They slowly and quietly try to save themselves, slipping beneath the surface with no real commotion. I nearly watched it happen to my own 8 year old daughter, but I’d read a post on the internet, just like what I’m typing now, and I dove in and got to her in time. https://www.rlss.org.uk/News/silent-...s-it-all-about |
