The civis only kiss their boots and push these brave people into battles just for their own greedy profit and "security". Worst part of all none of these profiteers seem to give a shit what happens to the weary fighters afterward.

I don't care how much she loved him... once you end up severely disfigured, barely human looking and missing body parts then the physical attraction is over.
She's young and wants a life with a man who doesn't look worse than Freddy Krueger. She did nothing wrong. She probably never wanted to marry him but would've felt too guilty at that point to say no. Hopefully he'd understand her position.
