Re: Death Bed Lung Cancer
I think doing it cold turkey has the highest chance to succeed, none of that "I'll smoke less every day." and nicotine patch stuff. Though achieving the "smooth sailing" part took more than 3 days for me, I'd say about 2 months. It was not the addiction, just the habit itself ie: not lighting one up while waiting for the train, not lighting one up while drinking a beer, habitual stuff. You can kick the withdrawal pretty quickly. And the best part: no 12 step program bullshit is "needed". |

Yes, it's more about keeping your hands busy than anything else. When we smoke or drink, we feel like we're doing something, if we are not, then we feel that we need to. Addiction is strange, & ignorance is strong; everybody deals with these things differently, but seeing this post shows us the potential end result of what our foolish actions come to, a good heads up to us all.

Re: Death Bed Lung Cancer
I was a heavy smoker for about ten years now. Im 25, smoked two packs of cigarettes a day, a lot of pot every day, and cigars often for about the past two years now. I was admitted to the hospital for a week last month for a spontaneous pneumothorax (collapsed lung 26%) and have not smoked anything since. I used the patches, and am almost up to Step 3, so soon to be done and completely over with the quitting process all together. Smoke free for 30 days this day.

Re: Death Bed Lung Cancer
You have made a bit of a tit of yersel by comin on and spoutin when you don't even seem to have a basic grasp of the facts behind the current popular big bang theory so I'll elaborate, before you even get to the cellular level which requires water (you did know that didn't you???, it's just you didn't say anything about the heat of the big bang evaporating the all water in the universe) you need the building blocks ie atoms to make molecules eg H2O ie water and it is these that came from the big bang initially in an abundance of Hydrogen and Helium very simple molecules, have you never heard of the periodic table??? I did that in primary school and indeed you need the extreme temperatures of super novae to create certain elements such as gold etc. and even if you only watch Star Trek you would know that we are "Carbon based units" and guess what? Carbon is an element which can only be formed inside a giant or supergiant star so therefore you yourself are made from star matter - does that make it any clearer for you and explain why the other users reacted to your initial post the way they did? in hindsight do you not think it was a bit ignorant and ill-advised to say the least!
