Re: Swimming Hole

Nice find and thanks for sharing! A good vault is very important!
It didn't smell very nice when we found it. People called from the funeral home wanting to know if I could "take care of it".

Somebody else's fuck up I had to fix, but I got paid for it, so I won't complain TOO much.

Re: Swimming Hole

That's just sad really. What exactly is that in the water? A torso? I love your job!
It's the rib cage poking up the most, the casket being made of partical board has been long gone. We had use a water pump to get rid of as much fluid as possible, then dig on the sides and ends to "dislodge" the remains and try to pull it up as "whole" as possible.

I still had to fish out the skull, arms, bottom parts of the legs, and feet by hand. Thank God for rubber suits............

Re: Swimming Hole

That's horrific! What for you do with the parts once you get them all out?

Re: Swimming Hole

Put them in another wooden casket. We build this one out of oak, so it will last about a decade at least. It doesn't have any of the fancy lace or anything, but it was going straight back in the ground too, so there's no need for "show" I guess.

Next time I'll take close ups, because we deal with this type of thing about 4 times a year, sometimes more.

Re: Swimming Hole

This gives you an idea of how strong the burial vaults we use are.
