Been there. I don't think you can ever explain it to someone else clear enough, until you have that sobering moment a gun is in your face.
The thought that was going through my head at the time was; he was yelling at me, that I was holding out, there has to be more. But secondly, is he still going to shoot me to eliminate a witness, or does he get more bonus points from his gang if he shoots? (There were just stories about initiations where new gang members had to walk up to a stranger and shoot them. Cold blooded, no reason, but it proves loyalty to the gang.)
It was a hard 4 more years after that, thinking about it a lot, I wanted a real clear head, not a response type decision, but really calculated - because when you have to think about killing someone... But, now I am a conceal carry holder, and won't hesitate if the situation arises and my or someone else's life might be in the balance.
