Albuquerque: Aftermath of US Marshal Shooting

Several agencies are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting in southwest Albuquerque, but this time it did not involve Albuquerque police.
Deputies say a deputy U.S. Marshal shot a fugitive near a rehab clinic.
Investigators say the man had a history of breaking the law.
Officials say around 9:30 Tuesday morning, U.S. Marshals were trying to arrest a fugitive near Sunset and Bridge.
Family members tell KOB Eyewitness News 4 that fugitive is Gilbert Serrano.
He was wanted on a parole violation from February and new crimes including aggravated battery and child abuse.
Serrano's sister says her brother was at a methadone clinic with a relative.
Janice Serrano doesn't understand why her brother was shot.
"That's my brothers life! You can't just go to Walmart with a gift card and get a new brother," Janice said.
Janice Serrano said even though her brother has a criminal past, she said her brother didn't didn't deserve to be shot.
Deputies say U.S. Marshals and the state probation department surrounded the truck Serrano was in and at some point a U.S. Marshal fired a shot.
Investigators say that's when the truck took off in reverse, ending up in a nearby parking lot.
Gabriel Valdez and his mother said they saw the whole thing.
"They drove up and didn't announce who they were, just 'Get out of the truck, get out of the truck,' them boom!" Gabriel said.
They say Serrano was shot in the head through the windshield.
Gabriel Valdez said they had photos and video but shortly after this interview a U.S. Marshal asked for their phones for evidence.
Deputies have not said whether Serrano was armed.
A U.S. Marshal was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
Serrano's passenger was arrested, but deputies have not said why.
Serrano's family tells KOB Serrano is awake and talking following the shooting.
