A Vancouver man is facing assault charges after allegedly attacking a woman at a tattoo parlour Monday, apparently over a dispute involving $15.

The attack, caught on surveillance video shows a man knocking a woman to the ground and kicking her twice in the face.

"I can't eat right now," said Jojo Geronimo, owner of LooksWow Face and Body Art at International Village Mall. "It's hard to chew, so I'm having soup. I have cuts on my cheek and bruises on my chest."

Geronimo said she was attacked at about 1 p.m. when a customer showed up after being told that his Thursday appointment had been cancelled.

She said she refused to return the $15 he'd paid for a previous tattoo touch-up.

"I said I'd call security, but then he grabbed me and kicked me twice," she said.

She grabbed a chair to defend herself and then two other women, including the security guard, came to her aid.

Vancouver police Sgt. Randy Fincham said one man is charged with assault and assault causing bodily harm.

Fincham said the victim and suspect had a disagreement over a business transaction that quickly escalated. "It looks like she was asking him to leave when the alleged assault happened."

He said another woman was also allegedly assaulted. Both women suffered minor facial injuries.

Charged is Byron Thomas Hobbs, 31, who was released from custody but is scheduled to appear in Vancouver Community Court today.
