The only warning an Iowa police officer got was a snap, crackle and pop before an oak tree came crashing down during a traffic stop.

The freak moment was caught on Officer Jeremy Veach’s dash cam video as the tree’s giant branch slapped him to the ground, but the vehicle he pulled over received the brunt of the damage.

Footage shows Veach limping away from the disaster with a few scrapes and bruises, but he was not seriously injured.

He received three stitches on the elbow.
