Texas Cop on Leave After Losing Control at Pool Party

McKINNEY, Texas A Texas police officer has been placed on administrative leave after a video surfaced on social media of him pushing a teenage girl to the ground and pulling a gun on another teenager at a pool party.

A seven-minute video shows a police officer using profanity and aggressively throwing a 15-year-old girl in a bathing suit to the ground, face-down. He then appeared to pin her down with his knees.

The girl can be heard screaming, "I want to call my mom. He hit me."

McKinney police spokeswoman Sabrina Boston said the incident involved "multiple juveniles at the location, who do not live in the area or have permission to be there, refusing to leave."

She said additional units were dispatched after the first officers to arrive "encountered a large crowd that refused to comply with police commands."

Brooks specified that the chaos began with a fight between a white woman and a 19-year-old black woman.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday afternoon, police Chief Greg Conley asked citizens to be patient and to respect the investigative process.

"A (teenage) female was temporarily detained by one of the officers," police Chief Greg Conley told reporters on Sunday afternoon. "She was ultimately released to her parents."

The girl's family told that the girl is 15 years old.

A dozen police officers eventually responded to the disturbance.

"Several concerns about the conduct of one of the officers at the scene have been raised," Conley said. "The McKinney Police Department is committed to treating all persons fairly under the law. We are committed to preserving the peace and safety of our community for all our citizens."

Conley did not name the suspended officer.

Brandon Brooks, who posted the unedited video clip on Saturday, wrote that "this kind of force is uncalled for, especially on children and innocent bystanders."

In an e-mail to USA TODAY College, Brooks said he felt "invisible" to the cops and that he recorded the incident to demand department accountability: "I knew that what the cops were doing was wrong and that the video could hopefully provide some evidence to someone."

People just being pissy, cuz they didn't want to listen to the police. From what I saw, the police were not out of line, considering a bunch of punks were trying to interfere. The girl was resisting arrest and was being a brat.

I've read the story but haven't seen the video. I can't say I feel bad for the gal in the video as they were the ones refusing to listen and being shitty when they weren't supposed to be there in the first place

Re: Texas Cop on Leave After Losing Control at Pool Party

I thought he was doing OK, till he lost his shit and pulled his gun He was out of control for a minute. Lethal force needed in that situation?

I don't know if the Cops can tell you to leave an area or not. Where I live, unless you're doing something illegal you have the right to be on public property.

Re: Texas Cop on Leave After Losing Control at Pool Party

I have read the WHOLE story on another site and I am afraid I see no wrong doing by the cop, if the vid had shown the whole incident then the cop wouldn't be made out to be some nutcase.
He was initially on his own surrounded by kids that had already crashed a neighbours back yard swimming pool and caused damage then refused to leave, there is more to it but typing long winded explanations isn't in my repertoire.

Re: Texas Cop on Leave After Losing Control at Pool Party

Was taking the cops too long to shoot a black kid, so the media needed to dig deep.

Cops are technically on duty at all times.

I don't know if the Cops can tell you to leave an area or not. Where I live, unless you're doing something illegal you have the right to be on public property.

if it was a neighbor's yard, it was private property, not public.

People coming into your yard, uninvited? Causing damage and refusing to leave?
There would be some serious physical altercations happening if that was here.

Even if it was an apartment complex, if the crashes don't live there and weren't invited, they are trespassing.
