Guy Sneaks Up on Man at Train Platform Trying to Push Him Under a Train
On March 19, at the Northgate station of the Seattle light rail, Elisio Meléndez, a 26-year-old man, approached another man waiting on the platform from behind and pushed him twice towards an approaching train. Surveillance footage shows that Meléndez timed the push for when the train was entering the station. The victim tripped and ended up close enough to the carriage for one of his hands to touch its side, although he managed to regain his balance and avoid being run over. The prosecution charged the attacker with attempted second-degree murder and set a bail of $750,000. According to court records, in 2019 Meléndez was accused of stabbing his sister in the stomach, but the case was dismissed after he was declared unfit to stand trial and was admitted to a psychiatric facility. |
