Sacramento Officers Shoot Knife-Wielding Man at School
On March 10, 2026, just before 6:45 p.m., Sacramento police responded to a school campus for a disturbance involving a weapon. A 911 caller reported that an adult male had a large kitchen or butcher knife and was chasing anyone who got close, including another adult male. A Sacramento County Sheriff's Office helicopter arrived overhead while officers were on the way. The air unit located a person matching the suspect's description in front of the school and gave him multiple commands to drop the knife. Responding officers arrived and contacted the armed suspect. Officers gave repeated commands to put the knife down and tried to de-escalate. The suspect refused, continued advancing toward officers, and an officer shot him. Another officer deployed a less-lethal conducted energy device during the shooting. Officers detained the suspect and rendered medical aid. The Sacramento Fire Department transported him to a hospital. A knife was recovered at the scene. The suspect was later determined to be the sole caller who reported the disturbance involving a weapon. On March 13, 2026, he was medically cleared and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
