Fatal Crash After Police Follow Sedan on S. Ashland
On October 1, 2024, on-duty Chicago police officers on patrol saw two people entering a sedan. As the officers attempted to investigate, the sedan fled and the officers followed. The sedan continued to the 3500 block of S. Ashland Ave. The driver entered the intersection, collided with an SUV, and crashed into a building. The driver of the SUV was injured and taken to the hospital. The passenger in the sedan was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Two guns were recovered at the scene.
