Fatal Crash After Officers Followed Sedan on S. Ashland
On October 1, 2024, on-duty Chicago police officers on patrol saw two people entering a sedan. When the officers tried to investigate, the sedan fled and officers followed. The sedan continued to the 3500 block of S. Ashland Ave. The driver entered the intersection, collided with an SUV, and crashed into a building. The driver of the SUV was injured and taken to a hospital. The passenger in the sedan was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Two guns were recovered at the scene.
