Re: Bodycam Video of Officer Being Shot Multiple Times
How bout if you were shot? Im sure the shock of getting shot, while his instincts were to just get away to possibly save his own life. Falling down backwards and hard, was the least of his worries under those circumstances. |

Re: Bodycam Video of Officer Being Shot Multiple Times
Its easy to critique the officer for not hitting the suspect, but remember that he was on the ground, had just been shot, and I believe had broken his leg and wrist? Kind of hard to be steady handed under those circumstances. Just really glad he made it out of there alive.

Re: Bodycam Video of Officer Being Shot Multiple Times
Those saying the cop was a bad shot probably have never shot a gun before. As stress goes up, your accuracy goes down. Doesn't matter how much you practice. It is part of the fight or flight reaction. Under intense stress, you lose fine motor skills. Plus, the guy was shot for Pete's sake. Despite having a vest on, it's one hell of a hit the force that is transferred through the vest. He was hit multiple times with at least one round that went inside him. Let's see how well you aim under the same circumstances...

Re: Bodycam Video of Officer Being Shot Multiple Times
They way any of us shoot is irrelevant to how he shoots. He's a cop. He's supposed to know how to shoot, even under those circumstances. But I will say that unless you're in that situation it's hard to say how it would go down.

Re: Bodycam Video of Officer Being Shot Multiple Times
Doesn't matter if you are a regular dude or superman cop. It is a physiological response to extreme stress. The body shuts off blood supply to non vital organs. Your fine motor skills go away. You get tunnel vision, and audio exclusion. Many people in a shootout don't even hear the bullets. Some cops actually think their gun is malfunctioning because they don't hear the shots. Pretty weird stuff. Although in this case it happened so fast that I don't know if that had time to kick in. This may have been just the basic, oh shit I'm being shot at and need to get to cover ASAP. |

Re: Bodycam Video of Officer Being Shot Multiple Times
I'm quite impressed with his ability to keep it together after the shooting. I'd be freaking out! They caught that shit bag the same night. His reason for running was the vehicle was stolen and he had $60 worth of meth on him. So he went from what would be considered a little amount of time in prison compared to what he is going to serve now that he shot that cop and he deserves it. It appears to me that at the time when the officer walked up to the vehicle he was unaware that it was stolen based on his unarmed approach and no back up with him so the cop may have just been trying to help the guy out because obviously the dude couldn't get the vehicle started and he ends up shooting the man. What an ass hole! |
