Re: Autistic Man Dies When Officer Smashed His Head On Ground During Take Down Hold

Not quite sure what that means, but I'm sure you know I come from a good place.

I do want to add tho.. 9/10 times I'd side with the officers in that situation. They can't just assume every person that's drunk is autistic and going in for a hug and not a death blow. However, in this instance since they already had previous knowledge about his situation they made a tragic mistake. The officer should at the very least lose his badge.
I know you come from a good place. You need to keep going back to places like that. Like ? My vagina?

People first language is the notion that people are people and not some handicap.

You are handsome, fun, good-looking, crazy, bangable guy.

In the world of special education? You speak to the person first. Example: John is a child with autism.

You don't say: The autistic kid. You say that child has autism. Or that is a women who is hearing disabled.

You speak to the person first.

I could tell within 3 frames of the video of him coming into view (the way he hand flicks), that he has autism. ALL mother fucking cops can be trained to identify the signs of this disease.

A hug would be a SURE fucking sign that they are not in their right mind. Put some fucking cuffs on him. That cop was a Cunt.

Call me? :x

Re: Autistic Man Dies When Officer Smashed His Head On Ground During Take Down Hold

I would fucking kill anyone who touches my son like this.

You may as well lock me up. Cuz if they ever put their hands on my son i will kill them. Autism makes it very difficult to understand socially acceptable behavior. You can work on it for fucking years and still never help them understand what an ugly, mean-face means, or when not to be silly. He tries to fucking hug the bald officer. When my son laughs at discipline I call it being "autism silly". Just by that hug you can tell he was not capable of correctly interpreting the gravity of that social situation. totally fucking uncalled for. just disgusting. This is a disaster of abuses.

When did it EVER seem ok to slam the laughing guy with autism to the ground with such force he never hugs again.

The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.
That's the first thing I thought of; that could have been my baby getting killed.

So autism also renders a person incapable of knowing that you don't physically assault other people, whether they're cops or not?

Gimme a break. He attacked the cop, and before that had made the choice to spend the entire day getting wasted. That's got nothing to do with autism; that has everything to do with being a douchebag. I have yet to hear of someone beating a charge using the Asperger's defense.

Autism isn't all rain man and flowers.

It is not something you can school out of an individual with asd. They literally cannot comprehend social cues. One minute the cops are interacting with him, and he is hand-flicking which indicates "autism on high burn", he laughs, he tries to hug and he points-probably because for the first 20 years of his life some monkey in a classroom tried to teach him HOW to point. they do not understand situations like this.

His laughs and flicks and points and numerous other autistic markers, leave me with no doubt that he was being silly, mischievous, probably drunken and nonsensical. He did not pose a threat to the safety of any of those police officers. He pointed a finger at all of them. Had he singled out the fucjing murderous cunt who slammed him into the ground, I wouldn't be defending his behaviors. In this instance, he wasn't a threat to any persons well-being. Ask yourself? is this what you call an appropriate response to an index finger point, hug and laugh.

He did his deathly finger point on more than one officer-he threatened multiple officers with that index finger of doom.

His mental faculties should have been in question the minute he indicated autistic characteristics. At that point. His hands should have been cuffed, or he could have been safely isolated. Maybe connect with his guardian. He did not have to die.

Our public servicemen and women should not be a threat to our children with autism because they don't "get/savvy" autism. there is no excuse for not providing officers with specialized training to identify the markers of autism and how to respond. Lemme tell you, if you think he deserved to die for doing his rote monkey poke you will HATE when this newest population of autism age up. They rote monkey poke anything they can for the reaction. For the most part, people with autism are much less diabolical than neuro-typical monsters.

Re: Autistic Man Dies When Officer Smashed His Head On Ground During Take Down Hold

Creepy, I'm not saying he deserved to die. I'm saying that he did something that warranted him getting his ass floored.

The finger-point isn't the issue. Honestly, I think the cop proves what an asshole he was by slapping away the dude's hand. But just looking at the video, I can see the one-second delay that usually occurs right when an interaction between two people escalates beyond words; and the guy squared up on the officer and directed a blow towards the officer's face. The officer -- who may have already been in a heightened state of vigilance and thus already "cocked back" -- reacted in accordance with his training.

Also, if this guy was so "special needs" as to be such a danger to himself, what was he doing unsupervised all day? Why was he just all out-and-about all willy-nilly and double-fisting bottles of Stoli in a school zone?

I keep looking for that one second delay . I guess I am missing it?

No offense boo, people let their children leave the house. I personally think they should have chained my sister in the backyard. instead my parents let her out of the house for school and short road trips. She is deaf.

Autism is a monster nobody is ready for. There are every kind of personality with autism and the hand flickers and pointers and laughers and huggers. They like noises they don't like noises. They hate to be touched they like to be touched. Doesn't mean we should lock them up in cages and away from living. They are pretty amazing people. And they are human and make a lot of mistakes.

I still believe in order to be a public serviceman/woman, courses that teach autism sensitivity should be mandatory.
