Arkansas State Police Trooper Ends Pursuit with Pit Maneuver
An Arkansas State Police trooper ended a pursuit with a tactical vehicle intervention on Interstate 40 in Arkansas on Sept. 11, 2026, sending both vehicles into the median. The trooper initially stopped a Ford Focus for a defective brake light near mile marker 193. After the passenger repeatedly gave a false name, the trooper approached to photograph him for identification. The woman driving fled westbound, weaving through traffic and passing on the shoulder at speeds above 100 mph. The trooper struck the car's left rear fender, causing it to spin and strike his patrol vehicle. Both occupants were arrested and taken to Prairie County Jail. The driver faced charges of fleeing, reckless driving, improper lane use, driving on a suspended license and defective lights. The passenger was booked for obstruction of government operations.
