Independence Police Arrest Driver After Pursuit
Independence police arrested a woman after a pursuit reaching 118 mph ended with her SUV hitting a light pole in Independence, Missouri, on April 8, 2025. Officers responded to a Home Depot after a man reported a road-rage incident and hit-and-run involving a black Ford Expedition without plates. Officers found the SUV empty and waited for someone to enter it. The woman drove off as officers approached, ran red lights and drove the wrong way during the pursuit. She struck a Buick Enclave and a wooden light pole, leaving a live wire across Blue Ridge Boulevard. The SUV became disabled, and she fled on foot. An officer's Taser deployment was ineffective through her layered clothing. She eventually complied and was arrested. She was charged with aggravated fleeing a stop or detention and two counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
