Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

What GI condition did she suffer from? I'm not discounting what you are saying, but just want to clarify. I didn't see anything on her condition other than your post that states she died from a GI illness.

Just because she was bloated doesn't mean she probably died from malnutrition and starvation. There are many GI diseases, and others, that cause bloating but doesn't mean the person suffers from malnutrition and starvation. Even with retention of floods. Flood retention and bloating can be side effects of medication and treatment and don't mean the person is starving.

As an example; Chrohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Irritable Bowel, Diverticulitis, just to name a few. All can cause malabsorption, there's no question about that. The disease itself can cause bloating and flood retention as well. Medications to treat the disease can also cause flood retention and bloating.

You see what I'm getting at? Just because it's a GI disease and she suffers from bloating and flood retention doesn't mean it caused malnutrition and starvation.

Many times the malnutrition comes from the bowel not working properly to absorb nutrients. Sometimes it's caused from bowel resections. No longer having the bowel TO do the absorption of nutrients. This is usually why GI sufferers have to take large amounts of supplements, because their bowels are either gone or don't work.
It was gastroparesis.

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

Do males keep their testes after that, or are they aspirated out? Do other areas ever need similar treatment on men or women?
yYes males get to keep their testes, no need to aspirate them out as the issue to be dealt with is the excess fluid within the scrotum, not so much the testes themselves. Different disease processes ie Heart failure, renal failure etc can cause fluid retention within the body, this can be dealt with by sectional embalming using embalming fluids that help to dry up the affected areas. Alternatively bodies that are very dehydrated should receive embalming fluids that help to retain/restore moisture levels within the body. Typically humectant based or lanolin based fluids.

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

My 36 yr. old sister-in-law passed away last November, and there wasn't a dry eye at the funeral. And, like this one, it was a very Utah Mormon funeral. But there thankfully wasn't a camera in sight, and I highly doubt any open casket pics were taken. Sorry but that's just incredibly disrespectful. As a parent, I can't even begin to imagine anyone posing with huge smiles on their faces at my child's casket, WTF?

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

If they were extremely religious they may see it as a relief that she passed. Every person goes through grief differently, I understand that concept.
But as young as she was, i would just be devastated burying my child like that. I wouldn't be fucking smiling i know that much :/

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

Its always been my dream to become an embalmer and funeral director/assistant.
Comes from when I attended my first funeral at age 8. The person who died was a 11 year old girl that i grew up with and was my older sister's best friend since they were in kindergarten. She had several heart problems...That was a tough time.
I was really scared to go to her funeral. Terrified even. I didnt want to see her face, i kept picturing her looking like a zombie in my mind. But i went, and i saw her ..and was pleasantly surprised. She looked beautiful, like she was just peacefully sleeping. To date, one of the best jobs on the deceased i have ever seen. It made it much easier for me, especially at that age, to accept her death.
Whoever took care of her, loved their job. I thank them for my lifelong interest and love for this field of work
