Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

In person or in photos?

Those mistakes just make her look uncomfortable, but she seems to have been embalmed well.
Both. Also, I've been to viewings in Japan too, and they do it much better there than in the U.S.

Some of the most impressive open casket photos I've seen come from countries where they don't embalm.

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

She certainly had full lips if they can be confused for an embalming mistake.

Etsu, you seem to be really knowledgeable about embalming and reference some work you've done. Do you work in the funeral industry?
Yes. My family own a funeral home. I graduated from a mortuary school and did a lot of embalming but was not into the whole funeral directing stuff because selling caskets and dealing with families is not my thing. I also did anatomical embalming for a donor program which is very different then regular embalming. When you have families telling you what a wonderful job you did and how good their loved ones look, it's one of the most rewarding feelings in the world. So, death has always been a part of my life. I've turned a 13 years old girl jaundice before, it was a nightmare.

What's it like growing up surrounded by death?

Also, do you mean you embalmed a jaundiced 13 year old girl, or you turned her jaundice? How do you do that if it was an accident, and what happened in that case? I can't imagine what a nightmare that would be...

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

Lips filler?? Common practice would be using cottons to fill inside the deceased' mouth to give it more of a natural, healthy/ non sunken in face look. What lips filler are you speaking of
Feature builder (dodge) usually used to fill out sunken areas in peoples faces, ie temples, eye sockets. Usually emaciated cases. Not so much for lips though, as you say. Moisturised cotton wool, along with gentle massage during injection should be enough.

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

This woman doesn't look at peace because her embalmer made two big mistakes. The first is that she is stargazing and facing the ceiling instead of her mourners. The second is that her lips were injected with way too much filler. She does have lovely hair though and would look a lot more peaceful without these easily prevented mistakes.
She does look like she is just closing her eyes and visualizing what someone is happily describing.

I suppose it depends on the angle. From the side it does look like she is in very deep sleep.

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

She was so beautiful. She was so full of life and her whole life ahead of her. Her family looks devastated. I know that feeling all too well. I feel especially sad for her sister, losing her like that on her birthday!
I agree with what you said Kel007, I wanted to mention that her sister got the worse surprise for her birthday.

I also wanted to say Thank you Anubis Fetish for this thread!! It made me feel extremely sad when, I saw the picture in which her father didn't want to accept that she was gone, and was destroyed about the fact.

Re: Various Different Women Shown in Their Casket

Never have I once seen anyone using "filler" on lips and I've handled literally over 1000 within the span of one year. Either the lips were already big like that, they were swollen because of some other factor (bruising/pre mortem fluid I.e hospital), or simply too much fluid was sent into the face.
