Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

Posted 27 April
"Wreckage of an unidentified military object was found in northern Poland. According to Polish media, the object is an air-to-ground missile with inscriptions in Russian.

The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the remains, but no official information about their origin has been released."

Attachment 1179017

UPDATE 10 May:
EDIT w/another photo and better info: "It was a Russian X-55 missile that fell in Poland at the end of April - Polish Technical Institute of the Air Force

On April 27, the Ministry of National Defense announced on social media that "the remains of an unidentified military facility" were found near the town of Zamość, about 15 kilometers from Bydgoszcz. On the same day, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki admitted that this object could be a Russian missile launched during a massive missile attack on Ukraine in December 2022. During the attack, the Russians allegedly lost control of one of the missiles, without a warhead (the reason for launching such a missile was the involvement of the Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense in destroying apparent targets), which was then monitored in Polish airspace.

Now this version seems to be confirmed by the expertise of the Air Force Institute of Technology, which RMF FM writes about. It shows that the missile found is a Ch-55 rocket, probably Russian, because neither the Polish nor the Ukrainian army does not have missiles of this type. It means that it is most likely a missile fired by a Russian military plane during one of the attacks on Ukraine, which flew to Poland from across the eastern border and flew over Poland for several hundred kilometers."

Previous info: "The Polish Air Force Technical Institute has preliminarily determined that the wreckage of a missile found near the city of Bydgoszcz in late April is from a Russian X-55 cruise missile that can carry a nuclear charge. Russians are actively using these missiles to strike Ukraine. Typically, the Kh-55 is launched with a simulated nuclear warhead."

Attachment 1179054

"Poland confirms that the Ch-55 cruise missile found in Zamość near Bydgoszcz is Russian. It fell in the middle of December and was randomly found in the end of April.

It is possible, in my opinion, that the rocket that flew into Poland in the middle of November 2022, killing two people, was Russian as well. And it definitely landed in Poland as a result of Russian rocket attack on Ukraine.

I am confident that Polish government will have an adequate reaction to the Russian threat to Polish security."

"The situation in the Kherson sector is tense, Russian troops are mining the left bank of the Dnipro River to prevent Ukrainians from crossing the river to further de-occupy the territories, says Humeniuk, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces.

"But their panic is visible and lies in the fact that they do not know from which direction to expect the maximum force of the attack, and that is why they are spreading their efforts both to Zaporizhzhia and Kherson directions," she added.

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

"France’s National Assembly voted Tuesday to designate Russia’s paramilitary Wagner group as a terrorist entity.

All lawmakers present in parliament — 331 in total — voted in favor of the resolution, which is non-binding. The resolution calls on the European Union to register Wagner on the EU list of terrorist groups.

“This resolution and its European scope aims … at reinforcing legal tools against [the Wagner group]. Adding it to the EU list would affect all the stakeholders, the banks, that make its activity possible,” said Benjamin Haddad, an MP belonging to Emmanuel Macron’s Renaissance party and one of the authors of the text. The resolution is non-binding but sends “a political and symbolic message,” said Haddad

“They aren’t just mercenaries, there’s a will to massacre civilians for political gain … to destabilize institutions,” Haddad said ahead of the vote.

The Russian mercenary group has already faced several rounds of sanctions from the European Union. In April 2022, the EU put Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin on a list of sanctioned individuals in the context of the war in Ukraine, and in April this year Wagner was added to another list of sanctioned entities due “to their active participation in Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.”

Putting Wagner on the EU list of terror organizations would deal yet another blow to the group, as it would reinforce “systematic tools” against the organization, meaning “anyone linked to Wagner could be prosecuted on terrorism charges.”

France has come under pressure from the Wagner group in Africa, where Paris’s influence is waning. In January, French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu said the Wagner group “had made France its number one enemy in Africa” and was targeting French interests."

"⚡️Is Japan going to join NATO?

No, Japan is not located anywhere near the Atlantic, but...

The country has rethought the situation in the region after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and is already in talks to open the first NATO liaison office in Asia.

According to Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, cooperation with NATO "becomes more and more important" as events in Eastern Europe go beyond its borders and have a direct impact on the situation in the Pacific region.

Oh Putin! The master strategist who wanted less NATO. "

Re: Whiskey's Briefing Room II

"Prigozhin's speech:

Here are the projectiles. And instead of giving them to the troops, they are accumulated in some warehouses, no one knows why. And instead of using the projectiles, killing the enemy, saving the lives of our soldiers, our soldiers are being killed, and the happy old man (reference to Putin) thinks that he's doing good. What's next for the country? If he turns out to be right, then good, but what should the country do, our children, our grandchildren, the future of Russia, and how to win the war, if suddenly it turns out, I just assume (sounds sarcastically), that this old man is a complete asshole?"

Back in the 50s the US also tried to have a collective defense treaty in the Southeast Asia region that was similar to NATO. It was called SEATO and the organization was supposed to counter communism in in that area. It included Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Philippines UK and France. It was later dissolved after the member states lost interest. Too bad it never took off and gained members just like NATO.
