Re: Moskva Sunk

It's pretty much confirmed at this point that those pics are the ship in question. multiple SME's agree. I figure that more footage/pics will trickle out as the days pass.

It is astonishing to me though.. during this propaganda war.. that there hasn't been ANY footage of this. It's a major blow to the russian ego... i find it very hard to believe that footage doesn't exist.
It’s hard to believe that ship like that didn’t have a proper Air Defence system.

Re: Moskva Sunk

As much as I'd like to see pics of the damaged/sinking Moskva, the major point to bring up here are the reports that it was hit around 1:14am local time (or sent its SOS) and sunk not long thereafter. These photos are clearly daytime, but the pictured ship is the same class as the Moskva.

Question #1: Was the 1:14am timeframe incorrect? Error in reporting? Did this originally come from Turkish sources?

Question #2: Are there other Atlant or Slava class ships in the Russian Navy?

(Yes, the Marshal Ustinov is with the Northern Fleet and the Varyag which is in the Pacific fleet. I have not confirmed this. It would appear the Moskva is the only Atlant or Slava class ship in the Black Sea area).

Question #3: Have any other Atlant or Slava class ships been severely damaged or sunk, regardless of how, in which pictures were taken?

Question #4: Has anyone ran a reverse image search of these picture(s)?

Question #5: Is it possible the Moskva was hit, (or no hit, ammunition exploded following a fire) survived the night, then sank during the daytime the following day, explaining these pictures?

Question #6: Are there any Atlant or Slava class ships that were decommissioned from the Russian Navy and sold to a civilian company?

Nice questionnaire. I was thinking about it too, but was too lazy to put it all together here.. I found it strange that
1. At first US couldn’t confirmed the reason of fire. ( hard to believe they missed 2 rockets on their radars, but then at the same time 3 weeks ago a drone flew over several NATO countries and didn’t get spotted until it crashed? Wierd. But now they took Ukranian side, saying those were rockets indeed.
2. I herd from Ukraine that ship sank already and then pentagon representative said it is damaged but moving towards krimea ( on its own or towed)
US and Ukraine are on one side obviously, but their story line didn’t match for some reason.

3. Looking at the damages, there is no way more then 300 sailors died? Another UA propaganda IMO

And idk about this time of the year, but I remember when I visited friends in Kremenchug back in 2017. Sunrise was a round 4 am! Literally 4:30 am and I could turn my headlights off..

USSR built only 4 ships.
“Ukraine” was never finished, after USSR broke up, Ukcraine in the next 30 years didn’t find money to finish the project… sad.
“Marshal Ustyogov” - Active. Northern Fleet.
“Varyag” - Active. Pacific Fleet

They were never sold to other parties.

Re: Moskva Sunk

Thanks duntez. Yeah Wikipedia showed the unfinished ones, looks like just 2 now are in active service. The Marshal Ustyogov and the Varyag. The Ukrayina was 95% finished but left unfinished and then the Soviet Union fell. It was transferred to the Ukraine shortly afterwards. Russia tried to buy it back in 2011 with Yanukovich but no agreements were made, he said it should be a join project (Wikipedia).

I remember some news early in the war that the Russians destroyed some Ukrainian ships, one which was being refitted. Not sure if that was the Ukrayina.

I believe Ukraine sunk the Moskva. But the pictures we're seeing don't match up with the story. I'd like to see something that makes sense - I realize the information war has two sides.

Two anti ship missiles and then a while later an ammunition explosion. (from the Russian survivor on the pro Russian group). Between the two missile hits the the big explosion, a lot of crew would be diverted to fight the fire. Then boom, there goes most of your crew, killed by an explosion that rocks the innards of the ship.

Plus these are Russians. Soviet mentality. The Captain probably waited to the very last minute to call SOS.
