Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

That's a fighter jet launching from nellis Air Force Base in Vegas, has nothing to do with Iran.
She was in Vegas sometime in the past. With the US engaged, Iranian Lions could be in the sights of her and her peer US fighter jet pilots.

Sad day to be killed in jihad by a female fighter!

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

Iran has launched missiles at a US military base in Qatar, in what it said was retaliation for American strikes against its nuclear sites over the weekend.

Witnesses have reported hearing loud bangs in the sky above the capital, Doha, while videos show bright flashes in the sky as air defence systems attempt to intercept missiles.

It is the latest escalation in a conflict involving Iran, Israel and the US which has seen tensions in the Middle East soar to unprecedented levels in recent days.

Iranian missiles targeted the largest US military base in the Middle East, Al Udeid Air Base.

About 8,000 US citizens are based there, according to the State Department, and it is home to US military's headquarters for all its air operations in the region. Some British military personnel also serve at the base on rotation.

The Qatari government said no one had been killed or injured in the attack, and that the base had been evacuated beforehand.

It is unclear whether any of the missiles hit the base, or if there has been material damage.

The attack was first confirmed by Iranian state media, and later by the military. The number of missiles used in this successful operation was the same as the number of bombs the US had used in the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities," the statement said, as quoted by the local Fars news agency.

A statement from the IRGC, the most powerful branch of the Iranian military, said that "Iran will not leave any attack on its sovereignty unanswered", and added: "US bases in the region are not strengths but vulnerabilities."

The US had previously warned Iran not to respond to its strikes on nuclear facilities and urged leaders in Tehran to agree to a diplomatic end to hostilities in the region.

The White House is yet to respond to the latest attack.

There were indications on Monday that the US suspected Iran was preparing to launch missiles into Qatar.

Hours before the attack, Qatar said it was temporarily closing its airspace.

That came shortly after the US and UK told their nationals in the country to take shelter until further notice.

Those warnings did not give a clear indication an attack was imminent: the US said it issued the order "out of an abundance of caution", while the UK said it was following the lead of the Americans.

Separately, some US media outlets quoted anonymous US officials as saying Iranian missile launchers had been positioned for a potential launch towards Qatar.

Flight tracking websites showed planes had already started diverting to other airports ahead of the launch. According to Flightradar24, there were 100 flights bound for Doha shortly before missiles were detected.

Hamad International Airport is one of the world's top 10 busiest for international traffic, with around 140,000 passengers passing through per day.

Other countries in the region, including Bahrain and Kuwait, also closed their airspaces.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on June 23, 2025, that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete and total ceasefire" to end the 12-day war, brokered with Qatar’s assistance.

The ceasefire, effective from 7:00 AM Tehran time (4:30 AM IST) on June 24, 2025, was described as a Trump described it as a phase to halt hostilities, with the war considered "over" if it held for 24 hours.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed Israel’s agreement, stating that Israel had achieved its goals of neutralizing Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile threats.

However, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified late on June 23 that Tehran had not formally agreed to a ceasefire but would halt military operations if Israel stopped its attacks.

Iran is convinced it's imposed because of their strikes.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

U.S. airstrikes did not destroy Iran's nuclear capability and only set it back by a few months, according to one initial U.S. intelligence assessment, as a shaky ceasefire brokered by President Donald Trump took hold between Iran and Israel.

The preliminary assessment by the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency was disclosed to Reuters by three sources familiar with the matter. One of the sources said Iran's enriched uranium stocks had not been eliminated, and in fact the country's nuclear program may have been set back only a month or two.

The assessment contradicted Trump's assertion that the weekend strikes had succeeded in destroying Tehran's nuclear program and raised questions about further U.S. military action if indeed the program survived the intense aerial bombardment.
The White House said the intelligence report was "flat out wrong."

Trump's administration told the U.N Security Council that its weekend strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities had "degraded" Iran's nuclear program, short of Trump's earlier assertion that the facilities had been "obliterated."

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that Israel in its 12 days of war with Iran had removed the threat of nuclear annihilation and was determined to thwart any attempt by Tehran to revive its programme.

"We have removed two immediate existential threats to us - the threat of nuclear annihilation and the threat of annihilation by 20,000 ballistic missiles," he said in video remarks issued by his office.

Within a few hours of publicly agreeing to a ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump, Israel has launched new strikes at Iran, which it accused of breaking the peace deal.

The resumption of hostilities threatens to extend the conflict that Trump dubbed the “12 Day War.”

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday he ordered the Israeli Defense Forces to “respond forcefully to Iran’s violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran.”

The IDF said it sounded sirens in northern Israel “due to missile fire from Iran” around 3:30 a.m. ET. Israel and Iran earlier launched strikes at each other shortly before acknowledging the beginning of a ceasefire, but an Israeli official told that two more missiles were detected and intercepted hours after the start of the ceasefire.

The Israeli Embassy in London published a photo purporting to show a rocket fired at Israel by Iran during the ceasefire, adding: “Iran continues to show its true nature as a terror state and a regional threat.”

According to Iranian state media, Iran’s armed forces denied Israel’s claims that it fired fresh missiles at Israel after the ceasefire began and leveled accusations against Israel of its own ceasefire violations, alleging three strikes across Iran earlier in the morning after the ceasefire had begun.

Iranian state media claimed, citing unnamed sources, that Israel’s allegation of a ceasefire violation was “pretext” to engage in further aggression. The report also reiterated Iranian threats that any breaches of the ceasefire by Israel or the U.S. would be met with “stronger retaliation.”

“In light of the severe violation of the ceasefire carried out by the Iranian regime, we will respond with force,” Israel’s Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir said.

Hardline Israeli politicians seemed to celebrate the ceasefire’s collapse. “Tehran trembles,” Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s security cabinet, posted on X. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir posted a pair of emojis:

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

Interesting statements attributed to Roi Kais, Arab Affairs Correspondent, Kan News (Israel Public News Agency):

Iran Stockpiled Enriched Uranium Prior to US Strikes
A senior Iranian source said on Sunday that nuclear facilities were evacuated before the American strike. He also added that most of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile is "stored in secured sites."

Israel G2 Knows Location of Enriched Uranium Stockpiles
An Israeli security source revealed to Saudi Arabia's Al-Hadath channel that Israel has precise intelligence on the location of Iran’s enriched uranium.

According to the source, "We know very well where Iran transferred the enriched uranium — most of it was buried under the rubble."

The source further explained that Israel deliberately chose not to strike the enriched uranium, citing the potential consequences of such an action.

"Israel did not attack the enriched uranium because it could have created a nuclear environmental disaster," he said.

That's behind a paywall so I've copied the article here.

Centrifuges at Fordo ‘No Longer Operational,’ U.N. Nuclear Watchdog Head Says
The director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency said that there was “no escaping significant physical damage” after a U.S. strike on the Iranian facility.

Centrifuges at the Fordo uranium enrichment plant in Iran are “no longer operational” after the United States attacked the site with bunker-busting bombs, Rafael Grossi, the head of the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, said on French radio on Thursday.

Inspectors from the watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, have been unable to gain access to the nuclear sites since the strikes. Mr. Grossi told Radio France Internationale in an interview that while evaluating the damage from the strikes using satellite images alone was difficult, given the power of the bombs dropped on Fordo and the technical characteristics of the plant, “we already know that these centrifuges are no longer operational.”

The centrifuges — giant machines that spin at supersonic speeds to enrich uranium — require a high degree of precision and are vulnerable to intense vibrations, he said. “There was no escaping significant physical damage,” Mr. Grossi said. “So we can come to a fairly accurate technical conclusion.”

He said, however, that it would be “too much” to assert that Iran’s nuclear program had been “wiped out” after the Israeli and American bombing campaign. Mr. Grossi noted that not all of Iran’s nuclear sites had been struck, and said Iranian officials had told him that they would take “protective measures” for the uranium they had already enriched.

Still, he said, the nuclear program has definitely suffered “enormous damage.”

He declined to say how far Iran’s nuclear program had been set back.

“Perhaps decades, depending on the type of activity or objective,” Mr. Grossi said, echoing comments made by President Trump this week at a NATO summit in the Netherlands.

“It’s true that with these reduced capacities,” he added, “it will be much more difficult for Iran to continue at the same pace as before.”

The comments from Mr. Grossi, the director general of the atomic agency, came amid questions over the effectiveness of the U.S. strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites.

Mr. Trump has insisted that the bombing “obliterated” the Fordo site, a position that some in his administration have continued to defend after the leak of a classified, preliminary U.S. intelligence report that found the attack had set back Iran’s nuclear program by only a few months. The C.I.A. director, John Ratcliffe, later said that the strikes had “severely damaged” Iran’s nuclear program.

On Thursday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, gave more details about the planning and execution of the U.S. strikes. But they offered no new assessments of the damage inflicted on the sites or on the state of Iran’s nuclear program.

One of the main purposes of the U.N. watchdog is to monitor nuclear activity in Iran and other countries, including those that have signed on to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. But the agency’s relations with Iran were at a low point even before Israel attacked the country on June 13.

U.N. inspectors remained in Iran throughout the war but were not able to gain access to the nuclear sites amid the fighting. And it was not clear when or even if they would be allowed to do so again now that a cease-fire has taken hold.

On Thursday, Iran’s Guardian Council, which has veto power over legislation in the country, approved a bill passed by Parliament that suspends cooperation with the U.N. watchdog and bars its inspectors from the country.

But the fate of the new law — which would effectively block the international community from having oversight of Iran’s nuclear program — was still unclear.

Revisiting the Hunt: First-Time Buyers Share What Went Wrong and Right
The decision to enact it lies with Iran’s moderate president, Masoud Pezeshkian, who was elected on campaign promises to engage with the West and who has publicly signaled his willingness to return to the negotiating table.

As a signatory of the nonproliferation treaty, Iran is “required to have an inspection system,” Mr. Grossi noted in the interview. He urged the Iranian authorities not to “unilaterally” reject inspections, “because otherwise we’d be on the brink of another major crisis.”

Mr. Grossi, who said Iran’s cooperation with the U.N. watchdog before the war was “limited,” said that he had reached out to Iran’s foreign minister to discuss a potential return of agency inspectors to Iranian nuclear sites but had yet to receive a response.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

Israel is treating the Palestinians in a similar way to how they were treated during WW2.

They are quick to forget, quick to justify their actions.

Hamas is their enemy, not the Palestinians.
