Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

It all is very simple. If the Arabs put down their guns, there would be peace immediately. If the Jews put down their guns, they would cease to exist.
Very well put.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

I don't believe Russians killed civilians on purpose.

8 pages of proof that they kill civilians on purpose on #warcrime. 10 pages with #civilian though in most cases those two hashtags will be in the same post.

This only accounts for about 50-60% of the media I've been able to hashtag so far. There is a lot more here.

Disappointed in Trump wasting my tax dollars on another foreign war we have no business being a part of, that ultimately makes us more prone to being hated and to terrorist attacks.

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

They have broken international law and the very rules they put in place during the starting of the United Nations

It’s all very well to say they should have done it decade ago but Israel has been saying since the turn of the century that Iran was only week away from making a bomb

It’s double standards again It’s ok for the west to break the rules that are meant to be set in stone but if anyone else does they cry like bitches

Sorry but illegal attack against all of our own rules

Not good we give Iran really a totally legal way to fight back They are not the bully’s we are

Re: ISRAEL/PALESTINE/IRAN/LEBANON Conflict Discussion Thread VIII (2025)

Iran pursued a secret nuclear weapons program, the Amad Plan which was revealed by the national Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in 2002, exposing undeclared sites at Natanz and Arak.

The program was formally halted in 2003, but covert activities continued.

Russia provided technical support, scientists, and infrastructure, notably for the Bushehr reactor and Fordow enrichment facility.

North Korea supplied missile technology that could be adapted for nuclear warheads.

Pakistan facilitated centrifuge technology transfers through the A.Q. Khan network in the 1990's.

U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin “are very good friends” who are focused on ways to strengthen the bonds between the United States and Russia.

The two presidents plan to speak Tuesday about the war in Ukraine.

Gabbard said ties between Russia and the U.S. go “very far back” and that Trump is committed to expanding a relationship centered “around peace, prosperity, freedom and security.”

“We have two leaders of two great countries who are very good friends and very focused on how we can strengthen the shared objectives and shared interests,” Gabbard said in an interview

US President Donald Trump, in a stunning rebuke of the US intelligence community, declined on Monday to endorse the US government’s assessment that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, saying he doesn’t “see any reason why” Russia would be responsible.

Instead, Trump – standing alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin – touted Putin’s vigorous denial and pivoted to complaining about the Democratic National Committee’s server and missing emails from Hillary Clinton’s personal account.

Donald Trump is sidestepping his own defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, while seeking advice on whether to launch a military strike against Iran, according to a report.

An unnamed U.S. official told that the president is instead turning to a couple of four-star generals for guidance on whether to join Israel in attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities, with the head of the Pentagon being largely left out.

“Nobody is talking to Hegseth,” the official said. “There is no interface operationally between Hegseth and the White House at all.”

President-elect Donald Trump once said he has confidence in Pete Hegseth, even as he acknowledged “people were a little bit concerned” about his pick to lead the Pentagon amid a series of allegations related to drinking and sexual misconduct.

Meanwhile, one former senior staffer, Colin Carroll, who served as chief of staff to Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg, said in a lengthy interview with Megyn Kelly there's a "culture of fear and toxicity" in Hegseth's office. "No one's going to want to come into that environment."

Carroll, along with Hegseth's former top aides, Dan Caldwell and Darin Selnick, were fired amid accusations by the defense secretary that they leaked classified information to the press.

Both Carroll and Caldwell strongly deny any leaks in separate interviews and instead say they were fired because they had trouble working with Hegseth's chief of staff Joe Kasper, who oversaw what they call a dysfunctional office.

After initiating diplomacy, Trump described Kim Jong-un as a "smart guy" and a "strong head" of state, emphasizing their good rapport. In a 2018 Fox News interview, he praised Kim's leadership, saying, "He’s the head of a country and I mean he is the strong head," and expressed admiration for how North Koreans "sit up at attention" for Kim.

Following their first summit in Singapore in June 2018, Trump said he and Kim "really hit it off" and claimed their relationship was "very, very good."

He described receiving "beautiful letters" from Kim, famously stating in September 2018 that "we fell in love" after exchanging letters.

Trump hailed Kim's release of three U.S. detainees in May 2018 as a "positive gesture of goodwill" and suggested he deserved a Nobel Peace Prize for warming U.S.-North Korea relations.

In 2019, during a meeting at the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to step into North Korea, describing it as an honor and noting Kim’s positive demeanor, saying, "I never expected to meet you at this place."
