Israel's military is clearly not "so great," otherwise they would exercise the magical powers the world expects of them to kill Hamas with no civilian casualties. Hamas's strategy is to force Israel to inflict large numbers of civilian casualties to trigger international condemnation. Blame Hamas 100%, not Israel. Hamas is using Palestinians as pawns for jihad while Israel is fighting for its very existence as a nation.

October 7 was a turning point. Israel was divided and in crisis but are now united again against a common enemy And, thankfully, Israel doesn't give a fuck about international condemnation. I have zero doubt that at the very very least Hamas will be removed from power. That's certainly something they weren't bargaining for. Don't fuck with Israel. This and other stories with similar content are all over Telegram and/or Twitter. I've just found no info this ever happened, as well as for other stories of this kind.

So be careful with that.

I agree that all armies should restrict use of social media on any battleground or front line. That would be the smart thing to do. This has happened quite a bit in the Russia/Ukraine war, mostly Russian troops getting bombed after posting geolocatable photos of their positions on social media. One that stands out is a high ranking guy in Wagner PMC posting several photos of himself and his guys at one of their bases. Within 1-2 days, Ukraine bombed the shit out of it killing him and most of the other 40+ people there.

In my units when you were deployed if you got caught with a phone, not even powered on, you got an instant field grade article 15. They did not play around with that bullshit.

Ukraine has had strict OPSEC guidelines intact since the beginning of the invasion with which they've made many arrests of people posting air defense locations and general media of immediate aftermath of Russian shelling. They've also labeled a couple of foreign journalists as spies for doing the same thing. In one case I know of they drove the dude to the Moldova border and told him he was barred from entering Ukraine for 10 years.

I am quite familiar with UA MoD OPSEC as for the first 7 months of the invasion I ran a live Ukraine camera stream and we followed their OPSEC guidelines to the best of our ability. That was a difficult thing to achieve and still show the audience footage of action happening within them but for me, they were a priority.
