So if you read the original account as written by the journalist quoted, Javier Espinosa (which is unfortunately behind a paywall at the sunday times), he says nothing about them staging actual mock executions.

He simply describes Jihadi John terrorising him with a knife, putting it against his throat, talking shit, and pretending to shoot him with a gun.

There's nothing whatsoever about actual staged tapings with cameras etc. of mock executions.

It's well-documented, you refusal to believe such a simple detail is honestly quite bizarre. You haven't even provided any reasons to why you think the opposite. Why else do you think they remain so placid to their imminent demise? It also plays into their narrative - their entire justification for beheading (at least the westerners they capture) is retaliation and the hostage pleading and crying for their life doesn't really play into that, but if they are stonefaced with no emotion whatsoever? Guilty as fuck (again the narrative ISIS wants to convey to their sympathetic audience).
