I certainly can't be sure, but it looks to me like a tracer round likely fired from a precision rifle of some sort. I think it probably went through him before bouncing off the ground. Hell of a shot.

I think the shot missed and he fell down to play dead. notice how he protects injuring his right foot with a spinning drop and intersecting his final position. If that shot hit his leg or foot, he'd have been tossed or jerked... Dumb fnck.
