Truch Driving on a 36 YO Viaduct That Collapses on Trans-Siberian Train Tracks
In South-East Russia, where on October 9 a viaduct collapsed, a state of emergency was introduced. The decision was taken at a meeting under the leadership of the towns Mayor. The proposal of the mayor on the introduction of the emergency mode was supported unanimously. Also he decided to dismantle the collapsed structure. The viaduct was built in 1982. The main task now is to dismantle the blockage from the railway tracks and restore traffic on the Trans-Siberian Railway. Assistance will be provided by the military, as well as the company "Gazprom" Another important task is to organize affordable car traffic for residents in the coming hours so that they do not remain cut off from another part of the city. In the shortest possible time it is necessary to install road signs and direction signs and public transport routes are determined. The deputy mayor for social issues was tasked with organizing the delivery of children from home to kindergartens and schools and back. The population will be promptly informed about all events related to the elimination of the consequences of emergency and changes in transport logistics. In particular, the necessary information signs will be installed. There is a study of all technical documentation related to the collapsed viaduct. |

JUST 36 years? That really isn't that long for a structure.

Read about the "Silver Bridge Disaster" in 1967. That bridge was supposed to last 100 years, and only went 39 years before it collapsed.
