An explosion struck an apartment building in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, causing part of the structure to collapse.

Three people were reported injured: one man with minor injuries and two women, including one hospitalized with concussion from the blast and another admitted to intensive care with severe burns and multiple injuries. A further woman was believed to be trapped in the rubble.

Cleanup was later reported complete. The cause of the explosion was under investigation.
