Bellingham Pipeline Explosion Kills Three, June 10, 1999

A fuel pipeline explosion and fire occurred in Bellingham, Washington, on June 10, 1999. Three people were killed, including two 10-year-old boys and an 18-year-old.

The pipeline carried Jet-A, diesel, and gasoline, and supplied storage tanks serving Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Portland International Airport.

The fire occurred upstream along Whatcom Creek. Burning fuel did not reach the highway overpass downstream.
