Someone Placed The Scaffolding A Little Too Close
Someone placed this scaffolding a little too close to the MRI machine, and of course, when it was turned on, this happened. From the looks of it, damage seems minimal, but who knows with expensive machines like that.

Re: Someone Placed The Scaffolding A Little Too Close
I heard a little girl was killed in one of these, when an O2 cylinder was left too close, and it got sucked in and killed her. Also, if you are a machinist, they will do a skull X-Ray before they do this to you, in case you have any metal chips in your eye. They have had cases where the metal chip moved and destroyed the machinist's eye. The patient wasn't even aware of the metal, it was so small and sharp. He never felt any discomfort when it went in. |

When I had an MRI scan a couple of years ago I was told to remove all piercings, I removed all but my nipple ring, Couldnt get it out they said it would be fine. It was but it got warm. Like uncomfortable warm. Them scanners are massive magnets, Scary stuff.

You need to watch old tattoo's as well as some of the ink used contained iron. The MRI can rip the iron right out of your skin. My first MRI I had to sign a bunch of waivers dealing with my tat's and I had to inform them right away if my tat's started to feel warm. They also had steel wool in a bag on a rope tied to the wall rub rails, when the MRI was on it would level out from 15 feet away, made me laugh.

Re: Someone Placed The Scaffolding A Little Too Close
i am a welder by trade and i had to have multiple chest x-rays and body xrays done before they would do my MRI. apparently metal in a welders lungs or under the skin some how? I dont think it could happen but they said it was a high risk occupation when dealing with MRI scans. As a side note i always wondered how in the hell do they build a room with no Iron or steel to put these things in? Obviously its not going to tear a building down but you could never be too safe with pipes and window frames, doors etc. A door with a steel door latch could be propelled open or closed i would imagine if it was left half cocked. Also at my local hospital the MRI room is the only room in the hospital with a door not big enough to get a wheelchair through, you have to walk or be carried into it.

I have Haemochromatosis, my body cant get rid of the iron in my blood, had 75 pints of blood removed over a 16 month period, to get it back to normal...don't think it would have effected me going in the MRI |
