A propene leak entered a water main in Taiwan, triggering explosions that ripped up roads and damaged about 6 km of streets.

Witnesses reported fireballs rising into the sky and flames reaching 15 stories high. The blasts caused a power blackout, overturned and trapped cars and fire trucks, and split one street along its length, swallowing vehicles.

Cars and motorcycles were thrown into the air, with some vehicles and victims found on the roofs of three- and four-story buildings.
