Aluminium is used in loads of explosive mixtures because it is ridiculously reactive. So reactive that the only reason your tin foil hat doesn't burst into flames is because Aluminium reacts with atmospheric oxygen so quickly that your hat is covered in a layer of Aluminium Oxide which prevents the reaction going further. It's also used when synthesizing amphetamines for exactly the same reason it is used in explosives. |
