Thats because of the floods, apparently the factory was built in an area already experiencing large amount floods. Water pours in a factory full of high temperature aluminum= Mushroom cloud.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think what happens is that when molten metal meets water, it oxidises, stripping the oxygen from the water molecules and leaving hydrogen.
