Zermatt Isolated After Mattervispa River Overflows
Flooding impacted the Swiss canton of Valais after persistent rainfall, melting snow, and waterlogged ground, according to local authorities on June 21. The weather caused significant disruptions and put several communities on high alert. In Zermatt, a tourist resort near the Matterhorn, the Mattervispa river partially overflowed its banks. The mountain village has been isolated from the outside world since midday Friday.
