To my knowledge Yellowstone is going to turn into a hellish lake of lava in the future. So explosions like these are only going to intensify over time.

Re: WYOMING: Large Hydrothermal Explosion at Yellowstone Park
It's closed for the rest of the summer. Given the recent changes to the hydrothermal plumbing system, small explosions of boiling water from this area in Biscuit Basin continue to be possible over the coming days to months. USGS and NPS geologists will be monitoring conditions, mapping the debris field, and sampling water to assess any changes in the shallow hydrothermal system over the next several days. Hydrothermal explosions typically occur in the park one to a few times per year, but often in the back country where they may not be immediately detected. Similar, although smaller, hydrothermal explosions took place in 1989 at Porkchop Geyser in Norris Geyser Basin, and on April 15, 2024, from the Porcelain Terrace Area of Norris Geyser Basin. A small hydrothermal explosion occurred from Wall Pool, in Biscuit Basin, in 2009. Significant hydrothermal explosions, probably similar in size to that of July 23, 2024, occurred in the 1880s at Excelsior Geyser, in Midway Geyser Basin. |

Once again, I have to point out that you NEVER see a hydrogeothermal explosion while eating at McDonalds! McDonalds are places of peace, and hamburglars. |

Re: WYOMING: Large Hydrothermal Explosion at Yellowstone Park
One of the worst parts is the walkways for visitors. If you'll notice, 90%+ of the pathways in Yellowstone don't have railings on them. You see the people running from the massive geyser are all hindered by no rails, people having to watch their every stp along the walkways. There have been many instances since the 1800s, where people have lost their balance and have fallen into the thermal pools. The burns they had succumbed to were often so severe that they died before they could even be retrieved from the poolside. People of all ages have been victim to these pools near the geysers. Many have been witnessed passing by friends and loved ones. Truly heinous
