A newly released video in better quality has captured the moment the American Airlines passenger jet collided mid-air with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on January 29, 2025, killing all 67 people on board the two aircraft. The footage shows the aircraft coming together before a fireball erupts, followed by plumes of smoke as both crash into the Potomac River. The jet, operating as Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kansas, was approaching the airport when the collision occurred. Officials said the Black Hawk was on a routine training mission in restricted airspace. All 64 people on the plane and three military personnel on the helicopter were killed. |
