Airbus AS350BA Ecureuil, Transporting a Dead Body, Crash Lands in Nepal
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, a routine journey turned into a scene of chaos and survival in the rugged highlands of Eastern Nepal when an Air Dynasty helicopter (9N-AFQ) departed from Kathmandu and was transporting the body of a deceased local resident back to their home village for a traditional funeral. Around 11:50 AM, the helicopter approached Belabesi, a remote area within the Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality. As Captain Sabin Thapa maneuvered the craft toward a makeshift landing spot on a terraced farm, things went wrong. According to local witnesses and aviation officials, a sudden gust of wind or a "brownout" (blinding dust kicked up by the rotors) caused the pilot to lose visibility just feet from the ground. The helicopter tipped precariously, its rotors clipping the uneven terrain before it crashed onto its side in the middle of a mustard field. There were six people on board: The pilot and five family members of the deceased. Incredibly, everyone survived. While most walked away with minor scrapes and shock, 74-year-old Kaji B.R. suffered injuries to his leg and eye. He was quickly pulled from the fuselage by villagers who rushed to the scene and was later airlifted to a hospital in Kathmandu by a rescue helicopter. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has since grounded the aircraft for investigation, focusing on whether unstable wind conditions or the unprepared landing surface were the primary factors. |

In a rural village like that with no electricity and someone is able to record video and upload it to be found by KH.  What a world we live in.   |

That crash was SO bad, even the DEAD GUY wound up coming back to life!!! But on his way to celebrate that evening, he was hit by a bus, a train, and power pylon that collapsed on top of him.  |

Stupid pilot. 1. Kicking up dust was a predictable threat he should have been prepared for. 2. He should have aborted landing as soon as he saw dust, before it got too bad. He needed clear view of the ground to land safely but did not need a clear view of the ground to ascend to safety. 3. If he was instrument rated, once he couldn't see he should still have been able to ascend safely out of that situation relying on instruments. Even if not instrument rated, should have been able to ascend. |
