Video Shows The Roy Halliday Fatal Plane Crash in Florida
Former Major League Baseball pitcher Roy Halladay, renowned for his exceptional career with the Toronto Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies, died tragically in a plane crash on November 7, 2017. The accident occurred in the Gulf of Mexico, near Holiday, Florida. Halladay, 40, was the sole occupant of the aircraft. Over his 16-year career, Halladay established himself as one of baseball's dominant pitchers. He was an eight-time All-Star and a two-time Cy Young Award winner, an honor bestowed to the best pitchers in the American and National Leagues. Among his career milestones were a perfect game in May 2010 and a no-hitter in the 2010 postseason. The plane involved in the crash was an ICON A5, a light sport aircraft. An experienced pilot, Halladay had developed a passion for flying after retiring from baseball. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) led the investigation into the crash. Their report concluded that pilot error, particularly low-altitude maneuvers, was a significant factor in the accident. |
