Hannibal Bicentennial Celebrations' Hot Air Balloon Festival Landing Crash
During the Hannibal Bicentennial Celebration's Hot Air Balloon Festival in Hannibal, a disturbing incident occurred when a hot air balloon went out of control, resulting in an individual being struck by the balloon's basket on Saturday night, June 22. The victim, identified as Hannah Young, a 26-year-old from Quincy, was initially taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment following the collision with the balloon's basket. Event organizers initially reported that the incident resulted in only minor injuries. However, it later became evident that Hannah's injuries were more severe, necessitating her transfer to Blessing Hospital in Quincy for further medical attention. Hannah's brother shared the grim details of her condition, revealing that she was experiencing significant pain and had difficulty walking. Her injuries included what was described as a concussion and a twisted spine. Despite the severity of her condition, a Blessing Hospital spokesperson stated that she was listed in good condition. Hannah exhibited tremendous courage during the incident, as she shielded her children from harm by placing her body over them when the balloon was descending. Her protective actions reflected her unwavering commitment to the safety of her kids. The balloonist involved in the accident reached out to Hannah, offering an apology and expressing a willingness to cover her medical expenses. Local authorities disclosed that other individuals sustained minor injuries during the incident, such as cuts and bruises, which did not necessitate medical treatment. The hot air balloon mishap unfolded at Hannibal-LaGrange University, where hundreds of attendees gathered for the festival. Multiple witnesses captured the incident on their cell phones, revealing the balloon's unsuccessful landing attempt at approximately 7 p.m. The landing went awry when the balloon clipped a tree, causing the basket to lower into the crowd. |

Re: Hannibal Bicentennial Celebrations' Hot Air Balloon Festival Landing Crash
I see no Hannah being this brave mother that got injured? The 3rd vid is clearest. If she put her kids down and shielded them while the balloon was dropping, then why didn't she move out of its path because it was dropping a whole lot of time before dragging through the 3/4 people that it did hit? I smell a scam claim. Walked away ok with minor injuries then played on it later. |

Bright-colored balloon the size of an office building approaching you at 15 mph...everyone screaming about it......but OH NO WAIT - I GOT IN THE WAY & IT HIT ME..... of course she has reproduced already.....too late. Kid would have been fine if his heroic mother hadn't fallen directly on him. |
