TransAsia Airways Flight GE222, a domestic Taiwanese flight, tragically crashed on July 23, 2014, in the Penghu Islands, resulting in the loss of 48 lives and injuring 10 others. The flight, operated by a twin-engine ATR 72, was en route from Kaohsiung to Magong Airport in the Penghu archipelago.

The crash occurred amid inclement weather conditions, including the influence of Typhoon Matmo, which had passed over Taiwan earlier that day. The aircraft attempted to land at Magong Airport but failed on its first approach. During its second attempt, the plane crashed into buildings in the village of Xixi, just short of the runway.

The impact and subsequent fire caused significant destruction, both to the aircraft and the ground structures. The incident was Taiwan's deadliest air disaster in more than a decade and raised questions about aviation safety and the decision-making process in adverse weather conditions.

Investigations into the crash by the Taiwan Aviation Safety Council (ASC) identified several contributing factors, including the pilot's decision to proceed with the landing despite poor visibility and the failure to follow standard operating procedures. The report also highlighted issues with crew training and the airline's safety culture.

Altogether 196 died, included a high profile Minister from Taiwan too. Thereafter, the entire stretch of road were all littered with body parts and reporters covering this news ended up stepping on it while doing the story as it was very dark. Loads of paranormal stories from these reporters thereafter and this area is highly haunted.
