Sightseeing Helicopter Crashes into Sea Near Xiamen, China

The final victim of a tragic helicopter crash that occurred in the waters near East China's Xiamen has been recovered and brought ashore on a Saturday afternoon. All four individuals on board the helicopter were sadly confirmed to have lost their lives in the incident.

Reports indicate that the crashed helicopter has also been retrieved from the sea. The accident took place during an air tour mission, as disclosed by China's civil aviation regulator on Friday. The precise cause of the crash remains unknown at this time.

The helicopter was affiliated with Beijing-based Fan Ya General Aviation, according to information provided by the regulator. In addition to flight training, the company operates a helicopter tourism service along the Xiamen coastline, in partnership with a local helicopter tourism service center, as indicated on its website.

The tragic incident unfolded when the helicopter crashed into the waters near Xiamen in East China's Fujian Province on a Friday afternoon. The Donghai (East China Sea) Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Transport confirmed that the Xiamen rescue team had successfully located the bodies of three victims shortly after the crash. However, one individual was still reported as missing as of Friday.

Surveillance footage circulating online, believed to be captured from a commercial street near the waterfront, captured the heart-wrenching moment when the helicopter descended headfirst into the sea.

Flight into instrument conditions.
The FAA has a training film on this. I think it is called "87 Seconds To Live", based on the average survival time after you fly into clouds with no instrument training. That's the AVERAGE. Some last double that time, and some die in a few seconds. But no one can fly without visual references if they don't know how to use instruments. It simply isn't possible.

Right, there's a song circulating already about that crash...

"...3 passengers that flew that day on a 3-hour tour, a 3-hour tour. The weather started getting rough, the tiny bird was tossed, she flew into a big white cloud, and the touring bird was lost, the touring bid was lost. The pilot kept his wits in check, and flew her fast and straight, but when the helo emerged from the bottom of the cloud, the bird had met its fate, the bird had met its fate."

Sorry folks, its been one of those days.
