Re: Flight 1325 Falls Apart in Thunderstorm at (ASU) Airport in Paraguay
I had a plane case where the business jet flew into a VIP 6 thunderstorm super cell. Aircraft was in IMC, relying on onboard weather radar. The storm did not appear much on the scope. The large fist sized hail bashed in the cockpit windows, depressurized the plane, and everyone was knocked out. It spiraled down in circles, and crashed on a sloped mountain ridge. Pilot lived. It turns out that the jet had been recently painted, and the paint shop used gorgeous blue paint to stripe the fuselage, including around the nose radome. Well ... that beautiful paint was filled with metallic pigment, and partially attenuated the radar signals. So what came back through the paint was mush, and looked like it on the screen ,,, just sort of a blob. Pilot had no idea ... Oh, yeah, I forgot: I forced the govt to pay a large sum because of FAA radar negligence in not telling the pilot what was in front of him. I took 70 depositions in that case before it settled on the eve of trial. |

It's an ancient relic. Surprised it's in service. 3rd World Countries don't really have the latest planes of safety procedures to keep them "Up" so it's a wonder that it stayed together at all. FUCKEN LUCKY ! |
