Challenger Overruns Teterboro Runway into Warehouse, 20 Injured
On February 2, 2005, a Canadair CL-600 Challenger failed to take off from runway 06 at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. The aircraft skidded off the runway, crossed a highway, struck a car, and crashed into a clothing warehouse, where it caught fire. Twenty people were injured, including all 11 people aboard the aircraft and two people in the car struck by the plane. The crew had incorrectly calculated the aircraft's mass and balance, leaving its center of gravity too far forward.
